On Tuesday night, the Covington Board of Commissioners joined City staff, family, and friends in celebrating the career of Economic Development Director Tom West as he prepares to retire after nearly a decade of service to the City.
Tom’s impact on Covington is impossible to capture in a single post. From leading the complete rewrite of the City’s zoning code into the nationally recognized Neighborhood Development Code, to serving as the City’s master developer for the transformational 23-acre Covington Central Riverfront project, Tom has helped shape Covington’s future while honoring the character and history that make our community unique.
He has been a tireless advocate for Covington’s small business community and someone who has always embraced both the glam and the grit that define our city.
Most importantly, Tom has always been authentically and unapologetically himself — a quality that earned the respect and admiration of so many people throughout our community.
Thank you, Tom, for your leadership and lasting contributions to Covington. We wish you all the best in retirement!
